Welcome to day 3 of our 25 Tips For Coping With Holiday Stressors.  Yesterday, in Tip 2, we showed some of the benefits of stretching and downtime as a technique to help reduce stress.  Today, we will look at how treating yourself is important, too.

Day 3 – Tip 3: Buy Yourself A Gift

The holiday season is a time for giving, but it can also be a time of stress. From buying gifts for loved ones to preparing for holiday parties, there are a lot of demands on our time and energy.

One way to avoid holiday stress is to treat yourself to a special present.

Therapeutic benefits of self-gifting:

  1. Psychological Empowerment: Self-gifting allows you to regain control and prioritize your own needs, fostering a sense of empowerment and self-worth.
  2. Emotional Relief: A self-gift can trigger positive emotions, boost dopamine levels, and provide a much-needed break from stressful thoughts.
  3. Self-Care and Relaxation: Gifting yourself an item or experience that promotes self-care, relaxation, or personal growth can significantly reduce stress by encouraging relaxation and mindfulness.

Whether it’s a new book, a cosy blanket, or a festive mug, taking some time to enjoy a little gift can help you relax and appreciate the season. And when you’re feeling more relaxed, you’ll be better able to enjoy all the holiday festivities.

So this year, don’t forget to give yourself a real gift. You deserve it!

That’s the end of Day 3 in our 25  Tips For Coping With Holiday Stressors.  Look out for Day 4 tomorrow.
